TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay produced in Odisha court, party members protest in Bengal

BJP leaderships claimed that their several party offices, including party's West Bengal headquarter in Kolkata, and few leaders' residences in West Bengal were attacked by the TMC men since Tuesday evening.

"At least 17 premises in West Bengal, including Babul Supriyo's apartment in Kolkata, BJP's Hooghly district president Krishna Bhattacharya's residence and party leader Lakshman Seth's home in East Medinipur, were attacked on Tuesday and Wednesday," BJP's WB president Dilip Ghosh told IBNS.

Meanwhile, protesting the arrest of Sudip Bandyopadhyay and demanding his immediate release, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader-activists staged demonstration, blocked road-railroads and held protest marches across the state.

In Kolkata, under the leadership of MLA Paresh Pal, TMC supporters blocked railway tracks at Kankurgachi, disrupting rail service for hours.

Few TMC activists staged demonstration in front of CBI's office at CGO Complex in Kolkata's Salt Lake area. A heavy police force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under.

Trinamool leader-activists held several protest marches in Kolkata's Shyambazar, Esplanade, Bhawanipur, Girish Park, Dhakuria, Golpark and Garia areas.

TMC activists in Howrah, led by cabinet minister Arup Roy, held a protest rally from Shibpur Tram Depot area to DM Bungalow and burned an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi there.

In South 24 Parganas district, besides holding agitation at Canning Bus Stand area, TMC supporters burned Narendra Modi's effigy there.

BJP claimed that its party office at Canning was vandalized by TMC on Wednesday morning. Local TMC leaders, however, denied the allegation.

TMC activists in East Medinipur blocked NH 41 in Haldia in the morning, hitting traffic for hours.

In Burdwan, besides staging demonstration at Dubudihi Check Post in Bengal-Jharkhand border, Trinamool supporters blocked highway in Andal and Asansol's Kulti for hours.

Protesting Sudip Bandyopadhyay's arrest, TMC workers blocked rail tracks in Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal for hours.

TMC workers also blocked Durgapur Expressway at Dankuni in Hooghly district for hours.

Meanwhile, TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been produced before a local court in Bhubaneswar and the CBI has appealed for his 12-day remand.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay and his lawyers claimed in the court that CBI has made the arrest as TMC is leading protest against Central government's demonetisation move.

However, the court will announce its decision shortly.
