TMC MLA Satyajit Biswas murder case: Bengal CID names BJP national VP Mukul Roy in supplementary charge sheet

Kolkata/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s national vice president Mukul Roy has been named in a supplementary charge sheet filed by West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with Trinamool Congress (AITC) MLA Satyajit Biswas murder case, officials said.

Sources in the CID said that the second supplementary charge sheet in the case was filed in a Ranaghat court in Nadia district on Saturday where the name of AITC-turned-BJP leader Mukul Roy had been mentioned as a conspirator.

On Sept 14, CID had submitted its first supplementary charge sheet in the murder case in the same court where BJP MP from Ranaghat Lok Sabha constituency, Jagannath Sarkar, was named as an accused, and he had been charged under IPC sections 302 (Murder) and 120B (Criminal conspiracy).

Earlier on Feb 9 in 2019, 40-year-old TMC MLA from Nadia's Krishnaganj assembly constituency, Satyajit Biswas, was shot dead at a Saraswati puja pandal at Fulbari area near his home.

His family lodged a complaint with Hanskhali Police Station against five persons, including Mukul Roy and four locals- Abhijit Pundari, Sujit Mondal, Kartik Mondal and Kalidas Mondal.

After beginning probe into the case, police arrested all persons named in the FIR, except Mukul Roy, and later CID had taken over the investigation.

Later on May 8 last year, CID had filed its first charge sheet in connection with the case, naming Abhijit Pundari and Sujit Mondal, adding another name- Nirmal Ghosh, and removing the names of Kartik and Kalidas Mondal from the accused list.

They all were charged under sections 302 and 120B of IPC and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.

Reacting on the matter, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "Mamta Banerjee's conspiracy continues, the false murder charge sheet on Mukul Roy shows how she is trying to suppress the opposition by her conspiracy."

"Mamata Banerjee herself is a guest for a few days. What's going to happen after this, she should think about it," Vijayvargiya added.
