TMC MLA Sabyasachi Dutta becomes new Mayor of Bidhannagar

Kolkata, Oct 13 (IBNS): West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday officially announced the names of mayors, deputy mayors and chairpersons of Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) and Asansol municipal corporations.

After meeting the newly elected TMC councillors of Bidhannagar, Asansol and Howrah at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee announced the names here.

Banerjee nominated Sabyasachi Dutta and Jitendra Tiwari as the mayors of newly-formed Bidhannagar and Asansol municipal corporations respectively.

Tapas Chatterjee and Tabassum Ara were declared as new deputy mayors of Bidhannagar and Asansol municipal corporations respectively.

Meanwhile, former mayor of Bidhannagar municipality Krishna Chakraborty and Amarnath Chatterjee are going to be new chairpersons of Bidhannagar and Asansol municipal corporations respectively.

Amid violence, municipal elections were conducted in Bidhannagar, Asansol and Howrah on Oct 3 and the results were declared on Oct 10, where TMC had registered a massive victory in three municipal corporations.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee said that the party will form a three-member committee headed by WB Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim, Youth Affairs and interim Sports Minister Arup Biswas and Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee to help the newly formed municipal boards to work properly.
