Guwahati, Feb 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening arrived in Guwahati for his two-day-long visit to Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.

Tight security arrangements have been made in Guwahati for Modi's visit. He will stand the night at Raj Bhawan.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones and inaugurate several projects in the three northeastern states during his visit.

PM Modi will also attend the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Changsari near Guwahati. The foundation stone of the AIIMS was laid in 2017 at an estimated cost of Rs 1,123 crore.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate Numaligarh Refinery Ltd's bio-diesel refinery and the Barauni-Guwahati gas pipeline.

The Prime Minister will address a public rally at Changsari and the Assam BJP expects around 2-3 lakh people to attend it.

PM Modi will inaugurate several projects, including a railway line and a new block at Tripura Institute of Technology campus.

Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said PM Modi would lay the foundation stone of a new bridge connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati costing around Rs 2000 crore followed by work of national gas grid expansion to the North Eastern region.

“He will also inspect the new AIIMS site and then also lay foundation stone a refinery converting bamboo to ethanol in Numaligarh refinery for the people of Assam,” Sarma said.

The Prime Minister will fly to Itanagar from Guwahati in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning and lay foundation stone of a green field airport at Hollongi.

He will also inaugurate a 110MW hydro electric project, Arun Prabha channel of Doordarshan and 50 health and wellness centres in the state.

Apart from that, he will lay the foundation stone of a Film and Television Institute and seven electric sub stations under Comprehensive Scheme, Sella Tunnel and its approach road in Tawang district.
