A large number of Tibetans assembled in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Monday to attend a special prayer for religious leader Dalai Lama, who will turn 90 on July 6.

Tibetans celebrate the occasion with great enthusiasm every year.

People participated in various cultural programmes, prayer sessions, and traditional rituals to honour the spiritual leader's milestone birthday.

Dharamshala will host a major three-day conference to mark Dalai Lama's birthday from July 2 to July 4.

Senior Buddhist monks, scholars, and representatives from various global Buddhist traditions are expected to attend the event.

The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) will celebrate the 90th birth anniversary of the 14th Dalai Lama.

The event will be held at a hotel in New Delhi on July 13.
