Three UALA militants nabbed in Assam
Guwahati, Jan 30 (IBNS): Security forces apprehended three United A'Chik Liberation Army (UALA) extremists in Assam's Goalpara district along the interstate border with Meghalaya on Friday, officials said.
Based on intelligence input, army Red Horn division and police jointly launched an operation at remote Mechelkhowa village along Assam - Meghalaya border area in Goalpara district and nabbed the militants.
Guwahati based defence spokesman said that, security forces have recovered two 12 bore country made rifles, ammunition, two mobile handsets, incriminating documents of the outfit group from the militants.
Two militants among the nabbed extremists belong to Garo Hills in Meghalaya and another from Goalpara district.
The militants were involved in extortion from local villagers along the bordering areas.
In separate incident, security personnel apprehended five ultras belonging to NDFB(S) in Chirang and Kokrajhar district on Thursday.
Following a tip-off, army and police had launched operation against the outfit group and nabbed two cadres from Chirang district and three from Kokrajhar district.
Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered from the militants.
