Three Hizbul militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Jan 16 (IBNS) : Three militants have been killed in an encounter with Security forces in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, the army said on Monday

The encounter took place at Awoora village in Pahalgam area on Sunday, an army official said.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the village, security forces  launched a search operation
in the area.

As the operation was going on, the militants opened fire prompting the security forces to retaliate and leading to an encounter.

The exchange of fire went on till late in the evening and then  resumed in the wee hours of Monday in which the  three militants were killed.

Three AK-47 rifles have been recovered from the encounter site, the official said adding the operation has been called off.

The slain militants  have been identified as Adil Ahmad Reshi of Bijbehara, Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Satkipora and Masood Ahmad Shah of Bewoora beloning to the the Hizb outfit .
