Thousands of farmers protest against farm ordinances in Punjab

Phagwara/UNI: Farmers belonging to various Farmers Union including Bharti Kisan Union Doaba, Bharti Kisan Union Kadiyan, Sugarcane Sangharsh Committee Dasuya and other unions on Tuesday protested against the recent Agriculture Ordinances passed by the Union Cabinet.

They held noisy demonstrations, raised slogans against the Central Government demanding immediate withdrawal of Ordinance Farmer Produce and Commerce Ordinance 2020, Kisan Bill 2020 and Electricity Bill 2020.

The farmers also blocked the vehicular on National Highways for nearly two hours.

Union Leaders Manjit Singh Rai, Satpal Singh Sahni and Kripal Singh addressed the protesters.

Meanwhile, a heavy police force was deputed at several sensitive points of the town to prevent any untoward incident.

Vehicular Road traffic was not allowed to enter in the Phagwara town and remained diverted to link roads.
