This is a verdict in favour of citizens: Mamata Banerjee tweets on Jharkhand Assembly poll result

Kolkata/IBNS: Congratulating JMM working president Hemant Soren over the Assembly polls victory in Jharkhand, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday said the verdict went in favour of the citizens of the state. 

"Congratulations@HemantSorenJMM ji, @RJDforIndia  @INCJharkhandon winning. People of Jharkhand have entrusted U to fulfill their aspirations. My good wishes to all brothers/sisters in Jharkhand. Elections were held during #CAA_NRC_Protest. This is a verdict in favour of citizens," she tweeted.

This was the first major Assembly poll results announced in the country ever since the Indian government passed the new citizenship law.

As per trends at 5 pm, the JMM-Congress alliance is ahead or won 44 seats while the BJP has bagged or won 27.

Jharkhand voted in five phases in the Assembly polls.
