New Delhi/IBNS: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged people not panic over coronavirus in the country and take small steps to ensure 'self-protection'.

He said he attended an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus.

Modi tweeted: "Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries & states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention."

"There is no need to panic. We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection," he said.

Modi made the remarks at a time when two fresh cases of coronavirus infected patients were confirmed by the Indian government on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Indian government on Tuesday said six cases with high viral load have been detected during sample testing in Agra.

"These are the ones who have come in contact with the COVID-19 patient from New Delhi, reported yesterday. They have been kept in isolation. Their samples are being sent to NIV, Pune for confirmation," read the government statement.

"Contact tracing of the persons who have come in contact with these six persons is also simultaneously being done through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) network," it said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tried to corner Modi over his statement on coronavirus and his recent remark on quitting social media and tweeted: "Dear @PMOIndia Quit wasting India's time playing the clown with your social media accounts, when India is facing an emergency. Focus the attention of every Indian on taking on the Corona virus challenge."
