Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has announced support for his political outfit for the upcoming Assembly polls in Delhi.

Kejriwal and his AAP is eyeing to return to power for the third straight term in Delhi.

In his X post, Kejriwal wrote: "TMC has announced support to AAP in Delhi elections. I am personally grateful to Mamta Didi. Thank you Didi. U have always supported and blessed us in our good and bad times."

Delhi will witness a triangular fight between the Congress, the AAP and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Delhi assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the results will be declared on 8th of the same month, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Tuesday.

Over 1.55 crore Delhi voters will cast their votes on February 5 in the elections.

The Delhi assembly's term is set to expire on February 23.

In 2020, the elections to 70 seats in the national capital, which is ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), were held on February 8 and the results were declared on 11th of the same month.

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who stepped down as the chief minister last year, is heavily campaigning for his party pitching in several beneficiary schemes for the residents of Delhi.
