Tejashwi Yadav breaks silence after poll defeat, says RJD still at poor people's struggle

Patna, June 29 (IBNS): Breaking his silence for the first time since the Lok Sabha poll defeat, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday said his party is still at poor people's struggle.

Tejashwi tweeted, "Since its birth RJD has been at the centre of poor peoples’ struggle and that position is not lost only because of an electoral defeat. Wish to assure people of Bihar as well as our spirited cadre, we are going to fight with renewed commitment on everyday life issues of poor."

The young Bihar leader also cited his medical issues as the reason behind his absence from public life since the Lok Sabha poll results.

He tweeted, " Friends! For last few weeks I was busy undergoing treatment for my long delayed ligament & ACL injury. However, I’m amused to see political opponents as well as a section of media cooking up spicy stories."

In Bihar, the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Janata Dal (United) and the Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) have swept the polls reducing the RJD to zero. The RJD's ally Congress won just one out of total 40 seats.

In absence of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, who is now serving a jail term in fodder scam cases, Tejashwi is presently leading the RJD.
