Tamil Nadu: 54-year-old man dies due to COVID 19 infection

Madurai/IBNS: A 54-year-old man in Tamil Nadu is the latest victim of Coronavirus in the country as the death toll due to the virus outbreak touched 11 on Wednesday.

The patient was undergoing treatment in Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister  C Vijayabaskar confirmed the matter and tweeted: "Despite our best efforts, the #COVID19 +ve Pt at MDU, #RajajiHospital, passed away few minutes back.He had medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD, uncontrolled Diabetes with Hypertension.
@MoHFW_INDIA @CMOTamilNadu #Vijayabaskar."

He earlier said the state had recorded three new COVID19 cases.

"3 new cases for #covid19 in Chennai. 65Y M return from New Zealand at Pvt.Hosp, 55Y F Saidapet at #KMC. 25Y M return from London at #RGGH. Patients are in isolation & under treatment. @MoHFW_INDIA  @CMOTamilNadu #Vijayabaskar," he said.

Covid-19 Heads-Up: 

To stop the spread of the pandemic that originated in China, India has placed the entire country under a stringent lockdown amid cases of coronavirus emerging and claiming lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a national address on Tuesday (March 24) announced a 21-day lockdown warning all against venturing out and inviting the virus to home. 

According to worldometers.info, India has till Wednesday morning 562 positive cases with 10 lives lost to the virus. However, Indian toll is 11 with one more succumbing in Tamil Nadu.

There are 422,913 coronavirus cases worldwide now with 18,905 people succumbing to the virus, according to worldometers.info. A total of  109,143 people have recovered.
