Srinagar, Jun 21 (UNI) Hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani was on Friday prevented from attending 'Urdu Book Fair', organised in Kashmir University, official sources said.

They said the decision to prevent Geelani was taken as a precautionary measure.

The HC chairman was invited by the students of the KU to attend the book fair at 1100 hrs on Friday.

Sources said that state police and central paramilitary forces had been deployed outside the Hyderpora residence of Mr Geelani. He was not allowed to move out of this house, they said.
