'Suvendu Adhikari is still in party': Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy amid speculations

Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy on Tuesday said his party colleague Suvendu Adhikari was still in his outfit amid speculations over the rebel leader's political position.

"Suvendu Adhikari is still in the party. He has not said anything different.. I will not divulge what discussion took place between me and Adhikari," Roy said.

After Adhikari, who was one of the trusted leaders of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee, turned rebel against his own party by organising his own rallies in the last few weeks.

However, Adhikari at a rally in Khejuri on Wednesday refrained from making any fresh dig at the Trinamool leadership.

Roy, who has been employed by Trinamool's top brass to talk to Adhikari, held a meeting with the West Bengal Transport Minister at an undisclosed location here on Monday.

Not only Adhikari, several other Trinamool leaders including Rabindranath Bhattacharjee who played a key role in Banerjee's farmers movement in Singur a decade ago have expressed dissent publicly.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is observing the development within the Trinamool, is ready to welcome any rebel leader from the ruling party.

"Anybody who is not happy in Trinamool can come to our party. We will give fresh air to breathe," said BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.
