Supreme Court reinstates Alok Verma as CBI chief

| @indiablooms | Jan 08, 2019, at 10:55 am

New Delhi, Jan 8 (IBNS): In a setback for the Centre, the Supreme Court on Tuesday reinstated Alok Verma as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chief.

Verma was sent on leave by the central government.

The case revolves around Verma and his deputy Rakesh Asthana swapping bribe charges.

The Narendra Modi government at the Centre had told the judges that the decision had to be taken because the CBI's top two officers had been fighting for months like "Kilkenny cats", a reference to a poem where two cats fight till both die.
