New Delhi/UNI: In a relief to Editor-In-Chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, the Supreme Court on Tuesda, in its verdict extended its interim protection from his arrest by three more weeks in connection with his alleged remark in his TV debates, including that of Palghar case.

"We grant interim protection from any coercive action against the petitioner for three weeks," a three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud said in the verdict.

The apex Court, however, refused to transfer the investigation from Maharashtra police to CBI.

But the investigation in the Mumbai case, in which the FIR was registered, will continue, the top court today said.

"Article 32 of the Indian Constitution entrusts the court to protect Fundamental rights. Journalistic freedom lies at the core of Freedom of expression," the Supreme Court said in its judgement today.
