Stop communal politics: Sakshi Maharaj's reaction to Owaisi's comment on Memon's death sentence

| | Jul 24, 2015, at 09:00 pm
New Delhi, Jul 24 (IBNS) Reacting strongly to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi's statement against against the death penalty to 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sakshi Maharaj said that politics of communalism should be stopped.

"This country is not run by Owasi, he (Memon)  has been found guilty by courts not us. This politics of communalism should be stopped," Sakshi Maharaj said.

He also alleged that opposition parties were  backing a terrorist while  demanding action against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

"Congress and these people want to save Yakub and want action against Sushma and others," he said.

Earlier in the day, Owaisi  triggered a controversy, saying  Yakub Memon is being executed because he is a Muslim.

The AIMIM chief pointed out that  the assassins of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi haven't been awarded the same punishment.

Addressing a public gathering, Owaisi pointed that two major political parties in Tamil Nadu have been trying to prevent the execution of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, all convicted in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

"If you are giving death sentence, give it all, don't target religion. This is also terrorism," said the AIMIM chief.
