Significant number of patients are recovering from COVID-19 in India: PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi/IBNS: Indian PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday started interacting with the Chief Ministers of various states over the COVID-19 outbreak situation and said India is one such nation which has witnessed a significant number of patients recovering from the disease.

Speaking to CMs, he said: "Today I will get to know ground reality from you, your suggestions will help in chalking out future strategy."

He said: "Two weeks have passed since the unlock 1 process started. In the last few weeks, thousands of Indians returned to India from abroad and hundreds of migrant workers reached their home towns."

"Almost all modes of transport have resumed operations but the impact of COVID19 impact has not been that huge in India as in other parts of the world," he said.

He said standard guidelines like wearing face cover while walking out of homes should be followed to keep the disease under control.

"For us the death of even 1 Indian is unsettling," he said.

Situation of COVID-19 outbreak in India:

With over 10,000 new cases recorded in the past 24  hours, the number of COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 3,43,091, as per Ministry of Health data released on Tuesday.

The death toll due to the disease stands at 9,900.

So far, 180012 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease.

However, there are 153178 active cases in the nation at present.
