Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra have filed a Rs 50 crore defamation case against actor Sherlyn Chopra, according to media reports.

News agency ANI reported the news on Tuesday, adding that the couple has also asked for a 'public apology' from Chopra.

The defamation suit comes after Chopra filed a case against Shetty and Kundra on October 14 for alleging sexual harassment, cheating, and criminal intimidation.

"I have filed a complaint to register FIR against Raj Kundra for sexual harassment, cheating and criminal intimidation," she told reporters outside Juhu police station, according to Hindustan Times.

On March 27, 2019, Kundra had visited her house and sexually assaulted her, Chopra had claimed, ANI had reported.

According to Live Law, the defamation notice against Chopra claims that her accusations against Shetty and her husband are "concocted, false, frivolous and baseless…made with an ulterior motive to defame and extort money". The notice also claims that Chopra made these allegations in an attempt to absolve herself from the ongoing investigation against her.

Kundra and Chopra are both involved in an ongoing investigation for their alleged involvement in the streaming of pornographic content on an app.
