Patna, Feb 18 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha, who is now known as a critic of his own party and government, has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for unveiling the Patna metro rail project a day ago.

Sinha, who was seen at an anti-BJP rally in Kolkata last month, tweeted, "I welcome the honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi and CM of Bihar @NitishKumar for the Patna metro project. Great move forward in terms of development and progress in Bihar along with other projects worth Rs 35000 crores. Highly appreciated and applauded.Jai Bihar, Jai Hind!"

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Patna Metro Rail Project at an estimated cost of Rs. 13,365 crores digitally by press of a button.

It will have two corridors -- Danapur to Mithapur and Patna Railway Station to New ISBT and is likely to be completed in five years. The project will ease the public transport in Patna and adjoining areas.

The metro project has been unveiled years after Kumar's Janata Dal (United) stitched an alliance with the BJP to form the government, dumping its previous allies, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress.

The country is heading towards the Lok Sabha polls in less than two months' time.
