Saudi MoS Foreign Affairs arriving India, but 'no mediation' on Indo-Pak ties: MEA

"Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs will visit India on Monday and will meet External Affairs Minister. My understanding is he is visiting to discuss some important follow ups from the recent visit of Saudi Crown prince," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.

Beyond that, details can be known only after the visit and meeting between two leaders, he said.

The Saudi leader's visit to India on Monday is being seen with keenness as during Al-Jubeir’s visit to Islamabad, he has “assured (Pakistan’s) Foreign Minister of the (Saudi) Kingdom's support to seek peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India".

Answering questions, the spokesman said, "frankly there have been no offer for mediation from any country, not from Saudi not from any country.....and I think our (Indian government's) position is very clear on this".

On March 5, the government of India indicated that it is rejoicing the fact that pressure is being built up gradually on Pakistan.

India's diplomatic efforts after Pulwama terror attack and since February 26 aerial strike have evoked "solid support" for India but to suggest that some countries have come forward and offered 'mediation' role will be completely falsehood, a key government source has said here.

"Let us make it very clear. We are not looking for mediation (between India and Pakistan). No body has offered us mediation," the source said.

The sources also maintained that various global leaders have spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.....there have been solid support but there is no talk of mediation.

In contrast, Pakistan is the one which is looking for immediate 'intervention' of a third party, the source has said.
