Sasikala charged with kidnapping by MLA who claims to run away from resort

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IBNS): As VK Sasikala reached a Bengaluru prison on Wednesday evening, the close aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been charged with the kidnapping by a lawmaker, media reports said.

He has claimed to have had a dramatic escape from the luxury resort in Chennai where over 100 AIADMK MLAs have camped for a week.

S Saravanan filed the complaint against Sasikala who claimed that he climbed the walls of the resort on Tuesday evening to escape.

According to reports, he ran away in T-shirt and shorts.

Saravanan has pledged support for Sasikala's opponent O Panneerselvam.

AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, who was all geared up to take over as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and don the mantle of late J Jayalalithaa, has been convicted by the Supreme Court in corruption cases dating back to 1990s, ending her campaign for the coveted post.

The Supreme Court refused to entertain Sasikala's plea seeking more time to surrender for undergoing jail term in the disproportionate assets case.
