Sankalp: Utilising the skills of retired government personnel
New Delhi, Mar 9 (IBNS) Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday said that so far, around 1,600 Pensioners and 19 Pensioners’ Associations have registered under Sankalp project launched in January 2014.
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare had initiated the scheme to channelize skill, experience and time available with retired government personnel into meaningful, voluntary contribution to society.
This would add to the social capital of the country and at the same time restore dignity and purpose to life post-retirement said Dr Singh.
The minister also said that to create awareness amongst retiring employees about this project, the Department has been conducting Pre-Retirement Counselling workshops regularly. So far 28 such workshops for retiring government employees of various ministries/departments in New Delhi and for Central Armed Police Forces at different locations in the country have been conducted. Further, seven Training of Trainers workshops for Central Armed Police Forces have been conducted at their establishments in which 502 trainers have been trained for conducting their own Pre-Retirement Counselling workshops.
