Sambalpur, Sep 15 (UNI) It was just for a costly mobile phone that a student brutally killed his teacher on the Guru Diwas day on September 5 last.

Police said Hrudananda Pradhan (47) , a college teacher in DPA College Parmanpur in Political Science department was found dead in his residence on the night of September 5 last.

The teacher was staying in a quarter in the nearby high school of the same village. The Sasan police rushed to the village and initially suspected the involvement of some staff of the high school with whom the college teacher had little differences.

Even police brought the Matron of the hostel and few other persons to police station for investigation.

But in the course of investigation on last Wednesday night, police came to know that the stolen mobile phone of the deceased teacher was being used by someone with a new sim card.

Using the mobile tracking and latest cyber techniques, police traced one youth in Mura village, Dukhanasana Bag (20) alias Raju.

The next day, police seized the mobile phone from the possession of Raju from his village.

During interrogation, Raju confessed to the crime and showed the places where he threw the mobile cover and the key of the teacher’s house.

He was arrested and produced before the court, IIC of Sasan police station Jayarashmi Sethi, said.

Sethi said Raju had good relation with his teacher and visited him frequently. Since the teacher was also LIC agent, Raju was planning to open a policy.
On September 5 night, Raju and his teacher cooked food in the latter’s residence.

Raju could not control his greed for the mobile phone used by his teacher and attacked him from behind killing him on the spot. He then left the place with the mobile after committing the ghastly crime.
