Samajwadi Party MLC Kamlesh Pathak among 11 booked for murder of 2 in UP

Auraiya/UNI: As many as 11 people, including Samajwadi Party (SP) MLC Kamlesh Pathak and his two brothers, have been booked in connection with the murder of two individuals over a property dispute in this district, police sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, two people from one side were shot dead following a dispute over the land of a religious structure here on Sunday.

In a report filed into the matter, Narayanpur resident Ashish Kumar has alleged that Samajwadi Party's MLC Kamlesh Pathak, his brother Santosh Pathak, Ramu Pathak and his brother-in-law Kuldeep Awasthi and Vikalp Awasthi, Bhagwatacharya Rajesh Shukla wanted to encroach the Panchmukhi Hanuman temple land.

On the other hand, people from Ashish Kumar's side were opposing to the same.

The report alleges that the accused MLC Kamlesh Pathak's gunner, driver Chotu and three unidentified persons came to the temple with revolvers, rifles and other arms at around 1520 hrs on Sunday.

Ashish's sister Sudha, advocate brother Manjul Chaubey, Manjul's father Shiv Kumar Chaubey, elder brother Sanjay Chaubey and other people from the area were present there from before.

It has been further alleged that the accused pointed arms towards Ashish's family members and threatened them to stop coming to the temple. When the other side opposed this, the accused directly opened fire on them.

Manjul Chaubey and Sudha were killed on the spot after receiving the bullet wounds while Sanjay was referred to Kanpur in a critical condition.

Two other passers-by were also injured in the incident while several other people present on the spot have also sustained injuries.

Following the incident, the accused brandished arms in their hands which caused panic.

Police is investigating the matter.
