Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav turns 81

Lucknow/UNI: Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday celebrated his 81st birthday in a subdued way.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wished Yadav on his birthday.

On the occassion his son and SP president Akhilesh Yadav, announced that his father formed the party through several struggles and now again the party workers and leaders will have to take the same path to bring the Samajwadi Party government through another round of struggle.

Mulayam Singh Yadav arrived at the state party office here for a brief period and thanked the party workers for their wishes.

The Prime Minister tweeted on Sunday, "Spoke to Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji and greeted him on his birthday. He is one of the senior-most and experienced leaders of our country who is passionate about agriculture and rural development. I pray for his long and healthy life."

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath also talked to the SP leader on phone and wished the SP patriarch on his birthday a long life and good health.

Later in the afternoon, SP president Akhilesh Yadav went to the state party office to celebrate his father's birthday with hundred of party workers who had assembled there on the occasion.

Pragatsheel Samajwadi party Lohia (PSPL) president Shivpal Singh Yadav, younger brother of the SP founder, also met the leader and wished him. PSPL also held separate programmes to celebrate the occasion.

Mulayam Singh youth brigade, the youth wing of the Samajwadi Party organised a blood donation camp at the state party office here on the occasion.

The party leaders organised different programme in different places in the state while several big hoardings were put up in the state capital wishing the septuagenarian leader on his birthday.
