Sad Vadra's name being dragged: Priyanka

Raebareli, Apr 22 (IBNS): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the opposition parties for dragging her husband Robert Vadra's name in their election campaigns.

Addressing an election meeting at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka said: "The opposition is saying so many humiliating things about my family and my husband for the sake of their campaigning. I feel sad but I have learnt to fight insults from my grandmother (late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi)."

"The more they try to insult me, the tougher fight I will give them. Our party is determined to fight their regressive mentality," said Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter.

"People have been supporting us for years. There is a strong relation between the people and our family. We will never lose," she added.

Pertinently, last year Vadra found himself at the centre of controversy after  senior government official Ashok Khemka, who was transferred earlier allegedly for his whistleblowing, accused him of having falsified documents for a land deal.

Khemka has reportedly told the Haryana government that Vadra, an industrialist and son-in-law of India's most powerful political figure Sonia Gandhi, falsified documents for 3.53 acres of land at Shikohpur village in Haryana's Gurgaon district.

Vadra used false registration documents to execute a series of sham transactions for the sale of the land in Gurgaon to real estate giant DLF for Rs 58 crores, Khema had claimed.

Khemka also apparently claimed that as per his calculations, through his irregularities and favours earned from the Haryana government, Vadra might have pocketed a whopping Rs 3.5 lakh crores.
