RPF seize unaccounted cash, gold ornaments hidden in 10 cartoons in Guwahati railway station

Guwahati/IBNS: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized at least 10 cartoons loaded with cash and gold-silver ornaments at Guwahati railway station on Tuesday evening.

The RPF personnel recovered Rs 4,88,900 unaccounted cash, 31 pairs of gold ornaments, five kilograms silver and a huge quantity of cloths from the cartoons.

According to the reports, two unidentified persons came to the Solapara parcel gate of the railway station for booking the cartoons.

When the security personnel tried to know about the cartoons, the persons immediately fled from the area.

Later, during search, the security personnel found the unaccounted cash and other items which were hidden inside the clothes packed in the cartoons.

An official of RPF said that, two persons came to the parcel office to book the consignment.

“When our staffs were trying to know about the consignment, the duo fled from the area. Our staff waited for about four hours and later recovered the items during the search,” the RPF official said.

A case has been registered at Government Railway Police (GRP) office of Guwahati railway station in connection with it.
