Released from jail, Navjot Singh Sidhu meets 'mentor' Rahul Gandhi, 'friend' Priyanka

New Delhi/IBNS: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, released from jail after 10 months, met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Delhi on Thursday.

In a tweet, Sidhu reiterated his commitment to work for the people of Punjab.

"Met my Mentor Rahul ji and Friend, Philosopher, Guide Priyanka ji in New Delhi Today. You can Jail me , Intimidate me, Block all my financial accounts but My commitment for Punjab and My Leaders will neither flinch nor back an inch !! My Leaders will neither flinch nor back an inch," read his post on Twitter.

Sidhu, who was incarcerated in Patiala Central Jail, walked out of the prison on Saturday after spending ten months in prison.

Following his conviction by the Supreme Court for a road rage case in 1988 that resulted in the death of a 65-year-old man named Gurnam Singh, the former Punjab Congress chief was sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment and was incarcerated on May 20, 2020.
