Randeep Singh Surjewala and Digvijaya Singh test Covid-19 positive

New Delhi/UNI: Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh tested positive for Novel Coronavirus.

Surjewala took to twitter on Friday and wrote: "I have tested +ve for COVID19 today morning. Anyone who has come in contact with me in the last 5 days, please self isolate & take necessary precautions."

Singh, who is also a member of Rajya Sabha, tweeted in Hindi, "I have tested positive for COVID-19. I have quarantined myself at my Delhi residence. I urge those who have come to my contact to get themselves isolated and take all precautions."

Former Union Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal was also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

India has been reeling a powerful second wave of Covid-19. In the past 24 hours, India registered 2,17,353 fresh cases, the highest single-day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the Union Health Ministry data released.

Besides, the country also recorded 1,185 deaths due to the virus, pushing the death toll to 1,74,308.
