Rajnikanth to meet PM Modi in Delhi?

| | May 21, 2017, at 05:09 pm
Chennai, May 21 (IBNS): Amid speculations that Rajnikanth might join politics, the superstar is expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming week in Delhi.

“The BJP contacted him yesterday for a meeting with Modiji this week. Details are not yet finalised,” the Indian Express quoted a source as saying.

However, Rajnikanth on Monday asserted that he is not joining any political party, media reports said.

"I am not joining any political party," he had said while addressing his fans after eight years at Chennai's Raghavendra Mandapam, Kodambakkam.

The actor had made it clear that even if he takes a plunge in politics in future, he won't join a political party.

Talking about film and politics, Rajnikanth had said, "I had an accidental brush with politics  20 years ago. Since then many people have been using my name to gain in their political career. People have been speculating for years about me joining politics. But I had made it cleat back then only. I have never made any such announcement since then about joining politics. Nobody has my backing and I don't support anyone."

The actor's statement came at a time when the BJP has been reportedly wooing  him to join the party, specially after the death of J Jayalalithaa.

"Some people have wanted to become MLAs and politicans and have been using me to make money. God willing, if I ever decide to join politics I will do it for the welfare of people and not to make money. As of now, god wants me to become an actor, and I am happy with that," Rajnikanth had added.

Talking about his films, Rajinikanth admitted that his movies like Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa failed at the box office, but Kabali did well. The Endhiran star felt that a film will only work if it has good content.

Rajnikanth urged the  the youth to refrain from smoking and drinking.
