Rajinikanth to launch political party in Jan 2021 ahead of Tamil Nadu polls

Chennai/IBNS: Southern superstar Rajinikanth will take a plunge into politics in January 2021 just a few months ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

Rajinikanth on Thursday said on Twitter that he will launch his party in January 2021.

It may be recalled that Rajinikanth had on the 2018 New year eve announced that he would enter politics, float a new party and contest all the 234 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections.

"My entry into politics is certain. This is the compulsion of time. In the next state assembly polls, I will start my own political party, and contest in all the 234 seats in Tamil Nadu," he had then said.

Following Rajinikanth's tweet, Congress MP from Tamil Nadu, Karti Chidambaram, tweeted, "Is the alliance between AIADMK and BJP still on after this announcement? Will Tamil Nadu BJP clarify?"
