Rajasthan Governor agrees to call Assembly session but with conditions

| @indiablooms | Jul 28, 2020, at 12:50 am

Jaipur/IBNS: Rajasthan GovernorKalraj Mishra has agreed to call an assembly session provided the government gives a 21-day notice.

The Governor had rejected an earlier proposal to convene an assembly session stating that it did not specify the date and reason for the meeting.

The condition is part of the three suggestions Mishra has made in his response to Gehlot's Cabinet's suggestion that he should summon the Assembly.

The Governor had questioned the need to call the Assembly session as the government is already in majority and the disqualification matter was subjudice in the Supreme Court.

In the suggestions, Mishra said the state government should undertake to live telecast a floor test, if it happens.

The state government should also ensure the sitting arrangement in Vidhan Sabha in accordance with the social distancing norms laid down for containing coronavirus infection.

Earlier, too, the Governor had said it would be difficult to call all the members of legislative assembly (MLAs) due to Covid-19.
