New Delhi, June 3 (UNI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday paid tribute to DMK patriarch and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi, on his 95th birth anniversary.

"Remembering Kalaignar Karunanidhi on his birth anniversary. A true leader of the glorious Tamil people, whose memory will never fade away," Mr Gandhi tweeted.

Karunanidhi, Tamil Nadu's longest serving CM, passed away on August 2018 after prolonged illness at the age of 94.

Earlier in the day, MK Stalin, Karunanidhi's son and DMK president, and party workers paid homage to the late leader.

In the recently-held Lok Sabha polls, Congress bagged eight seats contesting as part of the DMK alliance.
