Punjab denies prior warnings on terror attack

| | Jul 27, 2015, at 06:26 pm
New Delhi/Gurdaspur, Punjab, Jul 27 (IBNS) As intelligence inputs reportedly suggested a revival of Khalistan movement media reports on Modnay claimed that there were prior warnings of attacks on police stations and gurdwaras, which the Punjab government may have ignored.
The reports came after a gang of terrorists crossed over border in Jammu, travelled 85 km in a hijacked car to Punjab and launched attacks on several targets killing at least six people, including two policemen.

They are now holed up in the Dinanagar police station which they stormed after attacking a bus and a health centre.

Heavy exchange of fire is going on between the terrorists, dressed in army fatigue and  army and police personnel.

One terrorist has also been killed in the gun battle.

However, hiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Naresh Gujral has denied that the state government had any prior inputs about the attack from the Centre. "We suspect ISI is behind the attack. There seems to be no involvement of local terrorists," Gujral says.
