Chennai, Jun 29 (IBNS): Hundreds of lawyers protesting against the Advocates Act have been arrested across Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, according to media reports.
Lawyers in Tamil Nadu have been protesting against certain amendments made to the Advocates Act on May 25 by the Madras High Court.

The Act enables the High court and the district courts to debar advocates indulging in serious misconduct, media reported.

The Bar Council of India has warned the protesting lawyers that disciplinary action would be taken against those who continue to boycott the courts.

A section of lawyers even resorted to 'rail roko' in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, media reported.

The agitating lawyers have demanded unconditional withdrawal of the amendments.
