Prakash Javadekar in Dhaka to attend SACEP meeting

Dhaka/UNI: Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday arrived on a two-day Dhaka visit to attend 15th meeting of the Governing Council of South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) tomorrow.

Mr Javadekar was received by the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguli Das at the airport, local media reports said.

He will meet his Bangladesh counterpart Hasan Mahmood later in the day.

The visiting Minister will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum to pay respects to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) is an inter-governmental organisation, established in 1982 by the South Asian governments to promote and support protection, management and enhancement of the environment in the region.

Its member countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Last year, the meeting of the SACEP Governing Council was held in Colombo.
