Praise for Modi, loyalty to Didi: Shatrughan Sinha dismisses 'rebel camp' buzz
Veteran actor and Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday firmly rejected speculation linking him to the party's alleged "rebel" camp, declaring his unwavering loyalty to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The clarification came amid reports that Sinha was among the signatories to a letter submitted by a group of Trinamool MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Modi praise triggers speculation
The buzz began after the Asansol MP posted a message on X congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office.
"In true sportsman spirit, wishing our friend & guide of society/nation hon'ble PM @narendramodi best wishes on completing 12 years in office, perhaps the longest tenure, ever. Wish you a long, healthy & prosperous life ahead. Jai Hind!" Sinha wrote.

The post drew attention as he also tagged Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, triggering speculation about his political positioning at a time when reports of internal differences within the party have surfaced.
'I will never leave Didi'
Dismissing the rumours, Sinha said reports linking him to any rebel faction were completely false.
"Too many things have been said about me. Some are saying that I am part of the rebel group. All this is not true," he said.
Reaffirming his allegiance to the Trinamool Congress supremo, Sinha added, "Mamata Banerjee stood with me during bad times. I will stand with her during tough times."
The MP further said he had entered Trinamool politics at Banerjee's insistence and would never desert her.
"I contested the Lok Sabha election from Asansol because of Didi. I will never leave Didi," he said.
From BJP stalwart to TMC MP
Shatrughan Sinha began his political career with the BJP and served as a Union Minister during the NDA government.
After years of public disagreements with the party leadership, he quit the BJP citing ideological differences.
He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Patna Sahib on a Congress ticket but lost. In 2022, he joined the Trinamool Congress and won the Asansol Lok Sabha bypoll. He retained the seat in the 2024 general election as a TMC candidate.
His latest remarks are being seen as an attempt to put to rest speculation about his political future amid reports of factional activity within the party.
