Srinagar/UNI: A police constable and a civilian were on Sunday injured in a militant attack in Jammu Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar.

Official sources said that militants fired at a police party at Sazgari Pora in downtown Srinagar on Sunday afternoon.

"A policeman, identified as Constable Farooq Ahmad, and a civilian were injured in the attack," they said, adding the wounded were rushed to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.

The militants managed to escape from the spot and reinforcement was rushed to the area, the sources added.

A search operation has been launched to track the attackers.

"Security forces have established checkpoints within 3 km radius from the attack site and all the vehicles, particularly two-wheelers, were being thoroughly checked before allowing them to move forward," they added.
