Police Stations should become Temples of Justice: Rajnath

Hyderabad/New Delhi, Oct 31 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that a police station should not create a sense of fear among the poor but it should become the ‘Temple of Justice’.

Addressing the Passing Out Parade at the Sardar Vallavbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Rajnath Singh said the police is the most visible face of the State and it has been institutionalised to create a sense of security among citizens.

The police officers should be a mix of ‘Half Steel’ and ‘Half Wax’ and they should work towards enhancing their leadership qualities, he added.

Union Home Minister remarked that the Investiture Ceremony is being held on Sardar Patel`s 139th birth anniversary after a gap of ten years.

“It should always be held on Sardar Patel’s jayanti,” he added.

Rajnath Singh highlighted Sardar Patel`s role in uniting India.

“Had Sardar Patel not been India’s first Home Minister, integrating Hyderabad would have been difficult,” he said.

On the occasion, the Home Minister inspected the parade.

He also inaugurated the new Administrative Office Building at the SVPNPA and laid wreath at the IPS memorial in the SVPNPA campus.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh garlanded the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at a civic function held in the city on his birth anniversary today.

Addressing the gathering Rajnath praised Sardar Patel`s role in ensuring India`s unity and integrity.

The Union Home Minister also administered the `Rashtriya Ekta Diwas` pledge to the assembled gathering.

Rajnath Singh also flagged off the `Run for Unity` race in the city.

Hundreds of college students, NCC cadets and other citizens participated in the race.

In the mean time, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami also administered the pledge to the officers and staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The pledge taking ceremony was organized by the MHA at Jalebi Chowk, North Block in New Delhi.

The pledge was followed by singing of National Anthem.
