Police arrest three Nigerians in Assam’s Karimganj district

Guwahati/IBNS: Police arrested three Nigeria nationals including a woman in Assam’s Karimganj district on Sunday night for entering into India without valid documents.

According to the reports, the trio had entered into the Indian territory via Bangladesh and Tripura.

A police official of Karimganj district said that, after receiving information from reliable source, a police team had searched a passenger bus at Churaibari check post and detained three Nigerian persons including a woman.

“During checking, we had detained three Nigerians from a passenger bus bearing registration number AS-01KC-0259. They entered into India without valid documents. They were travelling in the bus from Agartala to Guwahati. They could not produce any valid documents. Later, we arrested them,” the police officer said.

The arrested Nigeria nationals have been identified as Nnaemeka Chinonso Felix, Ignitus and Ignunbor Dopis.

Police have recovered five mobile phone handsets, three bags and Bangladesh Visa.

The police officer further said that, they entered into India via Tripura by crossing the Indo-Bangladesh border and some agents had helped them.

Meanwhile, Karimganj district police registered a case in this regard.
