Police arrest drug peddler from Assam’s Karimganj

Guwahati/IBNS: Police arrested a drug peddler, along with huge quantity of brown sugar and other items, in Assam’s Karimganj district on Friday night.

According to reports, based on intelligence input, a police team of Karimganj district launched an operation in Karimganj town area and arrested a drug peddler.

During search operation at his rented house, the police team recovered 28 numbers containers of brown sugar, 100 numbers of empty containers, several sharp weapons and other items.

The arrested drug peddler was identified as Raju Ahmed alias Hussain Ahmed.

A police official said the drug peddler was also involved in motorcycle stealing cases in the area.

“He was running illegal drugs smuggling in the district in past couple of months. We also suspected that, some other persons are also involved in the illegal business,” the police officer said.

A case has been registered at Karimganj police station in connection with it.
