Poachers kill another rhino in Kaziranga

Guwahati, Feb 3 (IBNS): Poachers killed another one-horned rhinoceros in Assam's Kaziranga National Park on Tuesday and fled with its horn, officials said.

This year, Assam lost six rhinos so far including five alone in Kaziranga.

According to reports, poachers killed the rhino near Borghup forest camp under Burhapahar range office inside the National Park.

The poachers managed to flee with the horn.

"Forest guards found bullet injuries on the  dehorned body of a male rhino inside the park on Tuesday morning, " a top official of KNP said.

Last year, at least 36 rhinos were poached in Kaziranga.

Assam forest minister Atuwa Munda said the state government would take stern action to curb poaching incidents and protect wild animals.

He also blamed the Union government for not giving support to the anti poaching campaign.
