PM writes to Afghan President Dr. Ashraf Ghani, condoles loss of lives in avalanches

New Delhi, Mar 1 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and condoled the loss of lives in avalanches in different parts of Afghanistan.

"I was deeply saddened at the massive loss of lives in avalanches in different parts of Afghanistan. This tragedy touches us even more because of the special bonds of affection and friendship between the people of India and Afghanistan," Modi said.

"I extend the heartfelt condolences of the people of India to you, the bereaved families and communities and the people of Afghanistan. Please be assured that they are with us in our thoughts and prayers," he said.

Modi said: "I have great confidence in your leadership and the ability of the Afghan people to respond to this disaster. We stand ready to help in any way you desire with rescue and relief and to help people rebuild their lives. "

"I have asked my Ambassador to seek your guidance on assistance that might be required," the Prime Minister wrote," he said.
