Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reached Chandigarh to pay his last respects to Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal.

Ninety-five-year-old former Punjab Chief Minister died on Tuesday evening at a private hospital in Mohali where he was admitted last week due to breathing problems.

PM visited the SAD office where Badal's mortal remains were placed for Antim Darshan.

PM, in a Tuesday night tweet, had said, “Shri Parkash Singh Badal’s passing away is a personal loss for me. I have interacted closely with him for many decades and learnt so much from him. I recall our numerous conversations, in which his wisdom was always clearly seen. Condolences to his family and countless admirers.”
