New Delhi/IBNS: Wishing the Indian Navy on its special day, PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the contribution of the forces has made the nation stronger and safer.

" On Navy Day, we salute our courageous navy personnel. Their valuable service and sacrifice have made our nation stronger and safer," he tweeted.

Navy Day in India is celebrated on Dec 4 every year to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country.

Dec 4 was chosen as on that day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels including PNS Khaibar, killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel.
