PM Narendra Modi turns 68, eminent personalities shower wishes

New Delhi, Sept 17 (IBNS): Eminent personalities showered wishes upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the latter turned 68 on Monday.

Modi, a former Gujarat Chief Minister, became  Prime Minister in 2014.

On this special day, arch-rival and Congress president Rahul Gandhi greeted the Prime Minister on Twitter saying, "Happy Birthday to our PM, Narendra Modi ji! Wishing him good health and happiness always."

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "Birthday greetings to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji"

Veteran politician and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in a tweet, "Greetings and best wishes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. Praying for his healthy and long life."

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah tweeted, "Happy birthday to PM @narendramodi. Wishing you good health, long life and strength to fulfill the promises given to the people."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said in a tweet, "Warm wishes to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji on his birthday. On your birthday we pledge to take your vision, your mission - your dream of a #NewIndia forward. May your dynamism and indomitable will continue to inspire us. "

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav took to the micro-blogging site to say, "Wishing a very Warm & Happy birthday to respected PM Sh. @narendramodi ji! May God bless you healthy & long life, success and strength to live up to the expectations of 125 Crore Indians & fulfill the dreams & promises shown and given to the people!"

Modi, a member of right-wing organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), became the Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and served the state until 2014, when he rose to the national politics.

After running the state for over a decade, Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014 with a landslide victory, often called as Modiwave, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the political wing of the RSS.

Modi is an MP from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi constituency, where the Prime Minister is expected to spend his birthday.

Not only politicians, but personalities from diverse fields came out to wish the leader.

Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly said in a tweet, "Happy birthday to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra modi ji@narendramodi"

Retired cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted, "Warm Birthday greetings to Hon'ble Prime Minister @narendramodi ji. Wishing him a long and healthy life."

Wishing the Prime Minister, Indian boxer Vijender Singh said: "#HappyBdayPMModi Here’s wishing eternal health,strength and happiness to our dynamic & determined http://Hon.PM  Shri @narendramodi Sir keep inspiring and motivating us."

Miss World Manushi Chhillar tweeted a picture with Modi saying, "Wishing our honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi a very happy birthday! #HappyBdayPMModi


During my homecoming after winning Miss World, I don’t remember being quiet for even a single minute. His patience is admirable as he listened to my stories from college and Miss World."
