Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday performed puja at Kashi Vishwanath temple during a visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also accompanied him.

On his arrival, the prime minister was welcomed by the chief minister at the airport.

From the airport, the Prime Minister started a roadshow that attracted throngs of city residents and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers.

The roadshow passed through different areas of the city before reaching Kashi Vishwanath temple, where the PM performed puja with Vedic rituals.

The PM is scheduled to address a public meeting in Azamgarh on Sunday during which he will also inaugurate the newly constructed airport and state university in Manduri.

It may be noted that it is PM's second visit in the last 15 days and first after his candidature from Varanasi for the third time.
