New Delhi, Oct 11 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a model rural development scheme, titled Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, to be undertaken by Members of Parliament (MP).

“Let us take interest and create an atmosphere where every person is proud of his or her village,” the PM said.

Under the model rural development scheme, each MP will undertake the task of developing three villages in his constituency by 2019. The drive would cover nearly 2,500 villages.

“Welfare of the poor is our dream,” he said.

Modi said that he would also select a village in Varanasi area for the project.

The Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna scheme is targeted to bring development for the poor, farmers and villagers, sources said.

“The idea of this scheme is to develop villages every year. Schemes must be formulated in accordance with changing times,” PM Modi said.
